Bad news travels fast.  
 ⇒  Bad news has wings.
     나쁜 소식은 빨리 퍼진다.

Bad beginning makes a bad ending.
 시작이 나쁘면 끝도 나쁘다. 모든 일은 시작이 중요하다.

Bad luck often brings good luck.
 불행은 종종 행복을 가져온다. 전화위복(轉禍爲福).

Barking dogs seldom bite.
 짓는 개는 좀처럼 물지 않는다.  빈 깡통이 소리만 요란하다.
 말 많은 사람 치고 무서운 사람 없다.

Bald head is soon shaved.
 대머리 머리 깎기.    식은 죽 먹기.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
 아름다움을 보는 사람의 눈에 있다. = 제 눈에 안경.

Beauty is but skin deep.
 미모는 거죽 한 꺼풀.(외모에 속지 말라는 뜻)
  육체적인 미보다 정신적인 미를 추구해야 한다는 뜻.
 
Beggars must not be choosers.
 거지는 선택할 수 있는 사람이 아니다.
  배고픈 놈이 찬밥 더운 밥 가리랴.

Behind the fair.
 버스 지나간 뒤 손들기.  사후 약방문.  소 잃고 외양간 고치기.

Best is behind.
 가장 훌륭한 것은 뒤에 있다.
  고생 끝에 낙이 온다.

Better a living dog than a dead lion.  
 산 개가 죽은 사자보다 더 낫다.

Better an egg today than a hen tomorrow.  
 ⇒ A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.  
    생일 날의 성찬보다 오늘의 소찬이 더 낫다.

Better be safe than sorry.
 돌다리도 두들겨 건너라.

Better bend than break.
 부러지는 것보다 구부러지는(휘는) 것이 낫다.

Better be the head of a dog than the tail of a lion [horse].
 ⇒ Better walk before a hen than behind an ox.  
    사자 꼬리가 되느니 개의 머리가 되라.  

Better early than late.
 쇠뿔도 단김에 빼라.      
       
Better late than never.
 늦어도 안하는 것보다 낮다.

Better late ripe and bear than early blossom and blast.
 빨리 피고 빨리 지는 꽃보다 늦게 익어도 열매를 맺는 것이 낫다.
 대기만성(大器晩成).

Better leave it unsaid.
 말하지 않는 것이 차라리 낫다.

 최초의 큰 웃음보다는 최후의 미소가 더 낫다.

 ⇒  If you run after two hares, you will catch neither.
     두 가지 일을 한꺼번에  하려다가 모두 그르친다.

 ⇒  Between a rock and a hard place.
     악마와 깊은 (푸른) 바다 사이. 진퇴양난(進退兩難), 진퇴유곡(進退維谷)

 양 가죽을 쓴 늑대를 조심하라.

Big talk means little knowledge.  
 빈 수레가 요란하다.

Birds of a feather flock together.
 같은 깃털을 가진 새끼리 같이 모인다.
  처지가 같은 사람끼리 살아간다.

Birth is much, but breeding is more.
 가문보다 교육이 더 중요하다.

Bitters do good to the stomach.  
 좋은 약은 입에 쓰다.

Blood is thicker than water.
 피는 물보다 진하다.

Bold attempt is half success.
 대담한 시도는 절반의 성공이다.
  시작이 반이다.

Books are no better than woods without being opened always.  
 책은 펴보지 않으면 나무 조각과 같다.

 책은 그 사용법을 가르쳐 주지 않는다. (스스로 터득하라).

  사내아이들 장난은 어쩔 수가 없다.

 ⇒ A loaf of bread is better than the song of many birds.

 간결은 지혜의 정수  = 말은 간결할 수록 좋다.

Business is business.
 장사는 장사 = 인정사정 볼 것 없다.

By falling, we learn to go safely.
 넘어져 봐야 안전하게 걷는 법을 배운다.
  실패는 성공의 어머니. 비 온 뒤에 땅이 굳어진다.

By losing present time we lose all time.
  현재의 시간을 잃어버리면 모든 시간을 잃어버린다.
   일촌광음 불가 경(一寸光陰 不可 經).

By other's faults wise men correct their own.
 현명한 사람은 남의 결점을 보고 자기의 결점을 고친다. = 타산지석
